THIS IS A VERY GOOD ANIME.
If you think it's some cutesy, girly, lame and annoying anime, well... don't worry, Urobuchi Gen (the writer) is a "magnificent sadistic bastard", to quote a Youtube user.
The first two episodes were indeed full of fluff, but I think the utopian quality in the beginning is to set a bigger contrast to the despair, hopelessness that will creep in. I have a suspicion that Urobuchi Gen has a grudge against lolicon fetishists and is just trying to set them up. So if you're looking for a feel-good anime, stay away haha. It does not end well.
I think its popularity will grow even more in the next few weeks and I'm expecting to see lots of fanfiction/fanart/cosplay.
One thing I really like about it is that there is an explanation as to why the protagonist is special (and powerful), not like BLEACH or Suzumiya Haruhi... And the anime handles time looping really well (not like Higurashi).
Oh, and at the end there's a scene with two presumably naked girls (but their bodies are censored with galactic textures) hugging and with one of them saying "Don't you mind? That I will forget you? That I won't ever feel
you again?"... But by then you would be so blown away by their friendship that you probably wouldn't mind even if you're dead set against lesbianism (but, really, they are naked to show purity... and maybe a little fanservice).
Now I just have to wait till May 25th for the Original Soundtrack CD to be out so that I can download it haha.
Will definitely learn to play 2 of the songs in it too.
P.S. I think Sayaka has mastered the art of smile-crying...
